How To Survive High School
Friday, September 12, 2008 @ 6:42 PM

1. Study. This might sound like an "oh-so-ordinary" tip. Well, it is, indeed, but you should really think about it. Teachers will like you more, and good grades will look better in your report book, right? Do your homework, ask someone if you need help or don't understand something - you might also make new friends like this. Remember to make notes during lessons (instead of spacing out), and try to look interested, at least. Moreover, don't speak (too much) in class.

2. Join after-school activities. You will meet new people and you won't feel left out. Also, you might find out that you have got some hidden strenghts, and those might come in handy later, too!

3. Stay positive and try to fit in. If you are always whining about the upcoming test, others will start avoiding you. Smile a lot, be friendly, and help others when you can. You have got things you're good at, use them!

4. Don't forget who you are. Even if you have tons of homework, take your time and go out with friends. You musn't forget them, either. And if you're too tired, you can't focus at school. Don't lose yourself in the big craziness.

5. Get help if you're being bullied. Don't let others hurt you either physically or mentally. Ask your friends, parents or teachers for help, and stand up for yourself!

6. Befriend the upperclassmen. They know which classes are advised to take, which teachers are good/bad/wierd, and also the unwritten rules of the school and its students.

7. Be open to everything and everyone. Don't let others label you, and remember that you don't have to belong to only one clique!

8. Even if you're shy, be sure to sit in the middle of class. Others will notice you more, and the teachers won't think that you are sitting in the back, because you don't want to work. Try to make friends with some outgoing people, too. I'm sure you have got an extroverted personality, besides the introverted one! ;)
