Keeping Safe Online

Being safe on the internet is a really important matter, and I'm not trying to act like your parents right now. It is just true. So take a deep breath now and start reading
The Rules of Online SGs.
1.
Don't give out your full name, address, or telephone number to anyone you don't know in real. I only gave my number to one person I've met through the internet, and after knowing each other for two years. We have become best friends since then, so this can turn out quite good, too, but you should always remember those scary, yet true stories about girls (or boys), who ended up with an awful experience thanks to their own recklessness.
2.
Get a good anti-virus program. It's a must. They are lots of free programs available online, so why not use them?
3.
If you decide to meet someone in person (from online), always choose a public place, like a mall. Always think about a B Plan if (s)he is not the one you thought (s)he was (like getting an important call from a friend who needs you asap).
4.
Never open e-mail attachments from strangers. I bet you don't want to get some lovely viruses on your computer.
5.
Never give out your bank account or credit card information. Only if you are shopping from a trustworthy company, with positive feedback.
6.
Try to create a complicated password with numbers in them. Think about a song name, your favourite colour, brand, or anything you might remember easily, but others might never guess it (unless they know you well).
7.
Remember that people can lie as much as they like online. Don't believe everything.
Sites like MySpace or Facebook can be dangerous, as well. Be careful there, and avoid fishy people.
