Overcome Shyness

Are you nervous around new people? Does shyness make your life harder? (It sure does mine.) Do you want to slap it in the face? Well, then. Here are today's helpful tips.
Remember that shyness is a human emotion. Everyone has got a shy side - even if they deny it. In order to become more confident, why don't you abandon your boring (or not boring) life and join after-school activities? Start something new. You know, like playing an intstrument, trying out yourself in a new sport... things like that. If you are absolutely fed up with your life, think about the fragment that's missing.
You are yourself, and nobody can replace you. Too corny? Anyway, this is true. Accept yourself as you are, and be thankful for what you have. Oh, I'm in such a slushy mood right now, aren't I? I'm sure that you have got something you are reeeally good at. Be proud of yourself and improve even more, if you can. Use your talents and discover the hidden ones.
Laugh and smile often. People will see you as more friendly, and this helps a lot. This way you will be able to make freinds more easily, and those are people you really need to defeat your shyness!
Speak clearly. Sometimes it can be pretty hard (I jabber, so I can relate to situations like this). But try your best.
Try to figure out what makes you shy. If you are afraid to talk in front of audiences, practice holding performances/presentations at home. If you are shy around people you admire and whom you would like to become friends with, find the topic you are most comfortable with and say the first thoughts that come to your head.
Shyness is not a flaw, being shy is fine, too. It's up to you if you want to change on that or not. Besides, if everyone would be outgoing, wouldn't the world be too crowded?
